Lala Lajpat Rai, one of the chief leaders of the Indian Independence Movement, was born on January 28, in the year 1865, in Punjab.
- Lala Lajpat Rai helped found the Punjab National Bank.
- He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari (Sher-e-Punjab).
- He was a part of the Lal-Bal-Pal triangle. Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bipin Chandra Pal formed a triumvirate fought for the independence of India and promoted the Swadeshi movement.
- In 1928, the British government set up a commission and no Indian was named in the list.
- He led the silent march in protests and in return, British police declared a lathi charge, where Rai was assaulted and injured.
- He passed away on November 17, 1928.
